A very special Happy Birthday to my brother Scott.
(Happy Birthday by John Silver - music provided tonight from the PodShow Podsafe Music Network. Check it out at http://music.podshow.com/)
I just sat down in front of my home office computer and I realized I really didn’t do a whole lot of any thing today.
On this hot Oklahoma Saturday I took my son to Walmart for school supplies, and to take advantage of Oklahoma’s sales tax holiday and get him some back to school shoes.
After that I perty much just took the rest of the afternoon off.
I got caught up on my TV watching. I watched all those movies and tv shows I had stored up on the DVR.
I also think I might have napped a little. You know one of those nod off in the recliner kind of naps.
I do have a list of stuff I need to do. We have small whiteboard in on our refrigerator that lists everyone’s household chores. I have a few on there I really need to get done.
But I still think it was a good idea to just take the day off.
On Sunday I get to do all those household chore that need to be done. Shouldn’t take to long get everything done, but you know. we’ll see.

Have you ever have one of those times you feel really smart. You know for just one of those little things, hey this is the right thing to do right now.
Last weekend was one of those times for me.
For those of you who follow me on Twitter know I post a picture via twitpic a week or so back on what happens to a lawn mower when you run over a stump. I bent the heck out of the blade. Now I could have just fixed that mower, but it was really on its way out, and I really wanted one that had a bag on it.
So last weekened we finally got a new mower. Now its been over two weeks since I got to mow the backyard. So got the mower up and running and started to mow the backyard.
Now we have a lot of trees in our backyard. So I was in the shade for most the afternoon mowing away. When it came time to mow the front yard. I made one pass, and that little part of my brain that sparks those little burst of smartness went off. Stop Mowing Now. Put the mower up and go inside..
Reason. It’s a 103 degrees outside, and the front yard is in full sun.
Well I didn’t realize it was that hot out there till after I put the mower away. We have a thermometer out and our yard and I glanced at it on my way in. 103 degrees.
So I’m stilling in my living room, drinking a nice cold glass of ice tea, when it hit me.
That had to have been the smartest thing I’ve done all week.
I’m sure I would have really hurt myself if I had continued to mow.
So let that be a lesson to everyone. Feel smart, don’t mow your yard when its a 100 degrees outside.
